“Spiral Jetty” has become one of the most iconic pieces of land art since its creation in 1970. Described as “earthwork”, it stretches out 1,500 feet from the land and comprises of black basalt rock, salt crystals, earth and water. Over the years the stones have discoloured and changed due to the rising tides submerging it.
