Antony Gormley

“Another Place” on Crosby beach in Liverpool features 100 iron cast human figures of Gormley’s body facing towards the sea. Spread across the beach, some are engulfed by the changing tide. The piece aims to draw attention to man’s relationship with nature and how it changes over time; as the tide comes in, the bodies are submerged. Over a longer stretch of time these iron sculptures rust and gather moss and barnacles, further describing this interactive human/nature reaction.
